We thank all our members - new and renewing - for sending in your dues this year. Our Membership Drive for 2002 begins in May with dues remaining at the same level as last year. We greet hundreds of visitors at our museum annually and many more who join us for Saturday morning historic walking tours. This summer, join us Saturdays in July & August of 2002 for an all new ONE-MILE - ONE HOUR walking tour of the Old Forge Historic Waterfront and Cemetery. The tour is led by Town Historian Peg Masters, and will begin at the Trail's Inn Parking Lot on North St., at 9:30 am. Call 315-369-3838 for additional details.

Two new exhibits are on display for the summer of 2002 at the Historical's Goodsell Museum. You can still enjoy our tribute to the historic churches of the region by viewing our exhibit called "God's Country."  For over 100 years, people of all faiths have gathered within the walls of some of our most historic buildings to share life's most pivotal moments -  weddings, anniversaries, christenings, and farewells. Thousands of local people and visitors gather to renew friendships and share their spiritual fellowship with each other. To compliment this exhibit, the Historical Association has produced a 2003 Calendar entitled "God's Country" featuring photos and histories of all the area churches. Contact the Director Gail Murray at 315 369-3838 or by email to reserve your copy of this limited edition collector's calendar. The cost is $10.00 each and please enclose and additional $2.00 for shipping if required.

Our second new exhibit pays tribute to the Central Adirondack Guides from Brown's Tract. These pioneers and their families were the first permanent settlers of the region and worked collectively to establish laws for the conservation of our forest lands and protection of game. The exhibit features more than forty real-photo framed postcards of early guides from the collection of Tom Gates from Holland Patent.

Once again, the Historical Association is sponsoring the Central Adirondack Postcard Show - Saturday, August 3, 2002. Postcard dealers from the Central New York region will be on hand to sell vintage postcards and the event also features a special slideshow by local collector Charlie Kiefer. Check out the details on the sidebar link above.

Memberships, Donations and Memorial Gifts help us to preserve the history of this area and keep our museum open FREE OF CHARGE. We need your assistance and are grateful for your continued support. Checks can be made out to:
